Benjamin Ross Hayden is the Metis writer-director of the ambitious sci-fi film, The Northlander, which was funded by the Telefilm Microbudget Production Program and screened as part of the Perspective Canada program at the Cannes Film Festival. He is also the youngest film director in Canada to be accepted into the Telefilm micro-budget program, and from that is the only film director to ever to receive a theatrical release in Landmark Cinemas. The Northlander premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival in 2016. Northlander is a story of Metis myth set in a futuristic world the year 2961, focusing on humanity’s impact on earth, all while using Alberta’s scenery as the backdrop.
