Here we go again, round three for Calgary. Each year we get more jammers and better games.
January 27 – 29th, 2012
Running at Mount Royal University, January 27-29th, registered jammers check in at around 4:00 PM for a 5:00 PM Friday kick off. If we are not all insane enough, this will be our third year running as one of the more than 150 expected locations who will build video games over the weekend in 48 hours, ending at 5:00 Sunday.
It is a blast, all in the spirit of creativity, collaboration and fun. We are not there to make a deadline, but rather run on adrenaline while teams of developers artists and others hang out in teams, most meeting for the first time, to try their hand at building a video game from scratch.
Thanks to Mount Royal University for supplying the venue, and the students who will be volunteering to make this event amazing. Just wait to see what we can do together to make this our event of the year. This year’s event costs $10.00 which will go to the event for things like food and maybe t-shirts. We love sponsors who can help us out, making the event even better.
To see more information about the overall event, check out the main global game jam website.
On that global game jam site, you can watch other events via video. The time zones begin in New Zealand and finish at Pacific time, so in Calgary we will be the second last zone to finish.
There will be a theme announced at the start of the event that will give us the parameters of the game and each game will be uploaded on the global game jam site to qualify as complete.
Got it in you to give it a try. Sign up as a jammer, donate food or drinks, or be a sponsor and we’ll help show off your goods. Enjoy the Global Game Jam 2012!
